This little lesson on the number Fourteen is brought to you by the works of Evangelist Ed. F. Vallowe from his book called, Biblical Mathematics - Keys to Scripture Numerics. I could have put it in my own words, but he does it so eloquently:
FOURTEEN is the number that represents DELIVERANCE or SALVATION. It is used some 26 times in the Bible. It was the FOURTEENTH day of the first month of the year when the children of Israel were DELIVERED from Egyptian bondage, and from the stroke of judgment which fell upon the firstborn of the Egyptians. (Ex.12:6-7; 12:12-13; Lev.23:4-5)
The number FOURTEEN is found three times over connected with Christ's coming into the world, and He came to SAVE, or DELIVER His people from their sins.
"So all the generations from Abraham to David are FOURTEEN generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are FOURTEEN generations, and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are FOURTEEN generations." (Mat.1:17)
The Salvation of the soul takes place when one believes, at which time, he comes under the blood of Christ, "Our Passover". But the body will not be delivered from the bondage of corruption until the resurrection of the believer or the rapture of the saints, then the redemption of our body takes place.(Rom.8:20-23)
This explains why the numbers FOURTEEN and THREE are found together. FOURTEEN is for DELIVERANCE and THREE is for the RESURRECTION. In 1Chr.25:4-6 there are mentioned FOURTEEN sons of Heman, and THREE daughters who were for singers in the house of the Lord. Israel was DELIVERED from the plague in Egypt on the FOURTEENTH day. THREE days later they passed through the Red Sea, which is a figure of the RESURRECTION. Then they sang a song unto the Lord. In that song, they said, "The Lord is my strength and song, and He is become my SALVATION." (Ex.15:1-2) This is in line with the FOURTEEN sons and house of the Lord. The children of God rejoice in the SALVATION of their souls, and sing for joy. And they rejoice in the hope of their RESURRECTION.
On his voyage to Rome, Paul and his company were caught in a violent storm. (Act.27:14-44) When the men had despaired of any being saved God sent His angel and told Paul that they would all escape alive. Upon the authority of God's Word Paul told them none would die. (vs 22-25) There were 276 on board the ship. (vs 37) In Romans 1:29-32 we learn that TWENTY THREE is the number of DEATH. TWELVE, the number for DIVINE AUTHORITY, goes into 276 exactly TWENTY THREE times. 276 divided by 12 equals 23, They were saved from death in the storm on the FOURTEENTH day. (vs 33-44) This is in keeping with the number FOURTEEN being the number of SALVATION.
In Galatians 1:15-16, Paul tells about God revealing His Son in him that he might preach Him among the Gentiles. A few verses below he tells that FOURTEEN years after this he went up to Jerusalem with Barnabas and Titus.(Gal.2:1) The record shows that Paul's mission on this occasion was to confer with the apostles and elders as to the question of circumcision being necessary to SALVATION.(Act.15:1-12) Paul's name occurs the FOURTEENTH time in this connection. If one begins to count where it said, "Then Saul, (who is also called Paul) etc." (Act.13:9) then the FOURTEENTH time Paul's name is found is in Acts 15:2 where it said, "They determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles about this question."
The question was about circumcision being essential to SALVATION. But if the count commences in Acts 13:13 when Paul is no longer called Saul, but Paul only, then the FOURTEENTH time Paul's name is found is in Acts 15:12, just after Peter had said,
"We believe that through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ we shall be SAVED, even as they," (vs 11).
In either case Paul's name is found the FOURTEENTH time in connection with the discussion about SALVATION. And Galatians 2:1-5 shows that this was FOURTEEN years after Paul himself was SAVED.
Another interesting find I’ve discovered is that the three words, sun, moon and stars appear together in fourteen verses in the entire Bible.
With the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day. (2Peter 3:8)
There are three earth ages and three heaven ages. We are currently in the second earth and the second heaven age.
....Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come. (Revelation 4:8) Holy He was in the first, Holy He is in the second and Holy He will be when He returns.
The first heaven and earth ended with the rebellion of Lucifer and the beginning of what we call the Ice Age.
The second heaven and earth will end on what is known as Judgment Day. This comes 1000 years after Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ.
The third heaven and earth will last forever in a perfect paradise.
Between the first and third earth ages, God has allotted 14 Days (14,000 years) in His plan to end chaos and confusion. This doesn’t mean that the earth is 13,000 years old. It is billions of years old; pretty close to what the experts of science tell us. Since the Ice Age, God has resurfaced the earth to complete His plan to rid His children of the evil among them.
The end of the first heaven and earth had begun in the second sentence of this verse:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth became formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. (Genesis 1:1)
The second heaven and earth begins when God says, Let there be light.(Gen.1:3)
(Dates are approximate)
DAY 1 (11,000 B.C. - 10,000 B.C.)
Light separates Darkness. This is also about the time that modern science dates the end of the Ice Age.
DAY 2 (10,000 B.C. - 9,000 B.C.)
The Atmosphere is restored
DAY 3 (9,000 B.C. - 8,000 B.C.)
The ice melts, land appears & vegetation comes to life.
DAY 4 (8,000 B.C. - 7,000 B.C.)
God creates the sun, moon and stars.
DAY 5 (7,000 B.C. - 6,000 B.C.)
God creates the creatures of the sea and of the air.
DAY 6 (6,000 B.C. - 5,000 B.C.)
God creates the beasts and others creatures that walk the earth.
Let us make man in our image, in our own likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.
So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; males and females He created them. (Genesis 1:26-27) New races of men are created and females are introduced (created) along with them.
DAY 7 (5,000 B.C. - 4,000 B.C.)
God rested and made the seventh day holy.
DAY 8 (4,000 B.C. - 3,000 B.C.)
Agriculture is taught by the Lord.
And the Lord God formed The Man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and The Man became a living being. .....The Lord God took The Man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Genesis 2:7,15)
DAY 9 (3,000 B.C. - 2,000 B.C.)
The mythical Land of Atlantis, the land of the Adamites (descendants of Adam), was destroyed during the flood of Noah’s time. All who were in the land perished by the flood, mainly because they were procreating with the fallen angels called the Nephilim. The Adamic survivors began to repopulate and civilize the earth. Many of them traveled westward following the setting sun.
DAY 10 (2,000 B.C. - 1,000 B.C.)
You speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house. (Exodus 12:3) Abraham is chosen by God to be the father of many nations.
DAY 11 (1,000 B.C. -1 B.C.)
King David unites the tribes of Israel and establishes them as a mighty nation. Later: Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria has devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones. (Jeremiah 50:17)
DAY 12 (A.D. 1 - A.D. 1,000 )
A Savior is born (actually 2 B.C.) and crucified. Israel and the Roman Empire fade away. By the end of this millennium the tribes have now moved into Europe.
DAY 13 (A.D. 1,000 - A.D. 2,000 )
The Mountains (tribes) of Israel move to the Western hemisphere. Burning the midnight oil of technology... Wait, what’s that outside? .....Hey everyone, it’s Lucifer and the Nephilim!......again? Sadly though, for the people who don’t know God’s Word, they will believe that it’s Jesus returning with a host of angels.
DAY 14 (A.D. 2,000 - A.D. 3,000 )
WHOOSH! People are changed instantly; losing their flesh without experiencing physical death. The King of kings takes His throne and has the people clean up the land. A perfect government is established. People are taught the Real Truth with perfect love. At the end of this millennium, Lucifer is released again to gather those who cannot learn love. Then he is zapped into nothingness along with those who chose to join him. Everyone must walk through God who is a Consuming Fire and be judged. Will you make it out the other side? If you do, what will you have left?
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 4:1-3)
I will utterly consume all things from off the land, says the LORD. I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, says the LORD. (Zephaniah 1:2-3)
This Consuming Fire is that part of God that doesn’t tolerate the impurities of wickedness and evil. All those things on the negative side of life will cease to exist as God passes over His creations. We are like drops of energy and God is that Great Pool of Energy that we all eventually drop into. Only those qualities within each one of us that are lovingly good, pure and genuine can survive in this Great Pool. For those who are completely evil, they will completely vanish in the Consuming Fire. For the rest and those qualities that still remain in them, they will remember no more those people who have vanished. It will be as though they never existed. However, we will still after all this take to heart all that there was to learn. That lesson is simply, obey God because He cares for us greatly and His commands are in everyone’s best interest. The second heaven and earth are done away with and a new heaven and earth are established forever in paradise.
Israel was DELIVERED from the plague in Egypt on the FOURTEENTH day. THREE days later they passed through the Red Sea, which is a figure of the RESURRECTION. I would go further to say that not only is this a figure of the resurrection, but is a pattern of God’s over-all plan. There’s fourteen days (14,000 years) in God’s plan, with the fourteenth day being the third day (after the Crucifixion), when all the elect living on earth, in the twinkling of an eye, change instantly and literally from flesh to spirit beings.
Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. (Exodus 12:6) These fourteen days are in the pattern of the Passover, from the oppression to the Deliverer, from the plagues and the lamb slain to the angel of death, from the killing of the firstborn, the exodus and the wandering in the desert, to entering the promised land (eternity). The Passover is the main theme in God’s plan. Jesus fulfilled the part of the Lamb slain. There’s still the angel of death to come before we enter the eternity.
Before I had read the books of Enoch, the Lord opened my eyes and put the foundation of His fourteen-day plan in my heart. Excitedly, after reading these books, Enoch too says that the earth was created in six days, (this much most of us knew already) and that in God’s plan, His Story for mankind would also be finished in six days. Afterwards, there would be one day of rest for His children. Add the day that God rested and the total comes to fourteen!
In the Apocrypha, in the second book of Ezra, Ezra is told that the time in the world is divided into twelve parts. Twelve because Ezra doesn’t count the seventh day or the fourteenth day. At the time of his writing, he said that they were already half way through the tenth part. This would have been around 500 B.C. Jesus had His earthly ministry at the end of the tenth part. Two more parts or two thousand years left!
With the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day. (2Peter 3:8)
Examine the patterns of Gods creations:
With the 2000 year pattern the thoughts that come to me are:
On the sixth day God created mankind and they had no structure to grow; they were basically uncivilized and primitive. They were the hunters and gatherers. The hearts of the people who originated on the 6th day moaned for structure and purpose in their lives other than just eating and surviving. So, on the 8th day, 2000 years later, God introduces the concepts that would bring the people together. Agriculture is the beginning of civilization.
Then the hearts of the people moaned for some leadership to run their civilization. So, 2000 years later, on the 10th day God introduces a man, who from him would come several nations of leaders to run the civilizations that would eventually cover the world. Yet, the hearts of the people continued to moan. They cried, "These leaders care only for themselves and drive us to slavery."
So on the 12th day, God comes to earth as Jesus Christ to be an example to the leaders and to the followers and how they are to be towards one another. He encourages our morals to respect each other and to use empathy to understand each other. Most importantly, He paid the price that opens the door to an eternally peaceful existence.
Now the hearts of the people cry, "Rulers have no morals. Nothing has changed. We need someone who can enforce goodness and righteousness through the laws of Love. We want the fairness which comes with perfection!" So on the 14th day, Jesus will take total control over all God’s creations and the hearts of the people will at last find rest.
Another interesting parallel is the life-span of Moses. Since God’s plan is largely based on the pattern of the Passover and Moses was God’s main instrument during the Passover, it makes perfect sense to parallel the life of Moses in this way. And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died... (Deuteronomy 34:7) ..And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. (Genesis 6:3) The real question here is are these 120 - three hundred and sixty-five day years, or are they 120 Jubilee years? In the Bible, every fifty years all property went back to its original owner. This was called the year of Jubilee. In the year of this jubilee you will return every man to his possession. (Leviticus 25:13) In six thousand years there are 120 Jubilee years.
If we divide 120 Jubilee years in the same way that the life of Moses was divided, we have another pattern of two thousand years. Forty Jubilees are equal to two thousand years. In the life of Moses, he lived as an Egyptian until he was forty years old. Then Moses like Abraham separated himself from the life-style or worldly society in which he was brought up. In the book of Jubilees, Abraham is born fourteen years into the thirty-ninth Jubilee. (Jubilee 11:14) He was fourteen when he had gained recognition among his people. He did this by rebuking the ravens that ate the seed of their newly planted crops; commanding them that they go back to where they came. (Jubilee 11:17-20) Abraham then married Sarah fourteen years into the fortieth Jubilee. (Jubilee 12:10) Getting back to Moses, he lived another forty years as a shepherd until God told him to go into Egypt and free His people from bondage. Likewise, God came down to earth as Jesus to free people from sin. Moses was eighty years old when he led the Israelites out of Egypt and Jesus was born on the eightieth Jubilee from Adam. After the Israelites were delivered from the bondage of slavery by the Pharaoh and given the Ten Commandments, they wandered in the desert forty years before they entered the promised land. Parallel to the Ten Commandments, Jesus gave us the Gospel of the New Testament, which frees those by the Grace of God through faith. That is, for those who believe in the resurrection of Jesus and that Jesus is who He says He is and that He will do what He said He would. Continuing the parallel, instead of wandering in a literal desert, the Church will wait a little over thirty-nine Jubilees for Jesus to return.
